So I went back to London last week and was so excited to finally get my hands on a tub of Livia’s Kitchen Raw Millionaire Bites from Selfridges!
Livia’s Kitchen is a company founded by Olivia Wollenberg who, after studying neuroscience for 5 years at UCL, decided to embark on a new business plan to sell the products she created after experimenting with wheat and dairy free recipes due to her own intolerances.
And so voilà! We have the Raw Millionaire Bites. They come in three flavours: Chocolate Orange, Almond & Raisin and Salted Date Caramel. I opted for the third flavour since I am a huge fan of salted caramel.
As well as being gluten and dairy free, I was so excited to find out these treats were also refined sugar free… How many products are there on the market that taste like you’re having a cheat treat, yet are still gluten, dairy AND refined sugar free?!
So anyway, on the whole I enjoyed these Raw Millionaire Bites, although I must say that the one downfall for me would be the oat base. Livia markets these bites as ‘A crumbly oat base covered with a gooey salted date caramel , topped with smooth, rich dark raw chocolate’. Unfortunately the ‘crumbly oat base’ was more of a soft, squidgy base which was a shame since to me a usual millionaire bite would have a harder, crunchier base. I also felt that the caramel could have been a bit more salty but perhaps that’s just because I’m such a fan of salted caramel and like it to be quite heavy on the salt side.
Despite the main issue of the not-so-crumbly ‘crumbly oat base’, I would definitely buy this product again because the one flaw is outweighed by how great it is to be able to find something so tasty and sinful that really isn’t so bad for you after all! Might try out the other two flavours next time I’m back in London and will be keeping my fingers crossed that maybe the oat base has been revised by then!
Tell me what you guys think if you’ve tried them 🙂
